As a member of BHCA, you’ll receive a subscription to Tally-Ho, BHCA’s outstanding bimonthly magazine, which contains articles dealing with all aspects of the breed; information about upcoming specialty shows, field trials, hunting tests, and performance events; and many color photographs.

Membership Benefits

Members of BHCA receive special educational materials, can work towards BHCA-sanctioned titles, and earn special BHCA awards.

Code of Ethical Conduct

All members of BHCA sign and are held to acting under the Club’s Code of Ethics. The COE outlines the standards of responsible breeding, ownership, and sportsmanship expected of its members. It serves as a guide to protect the health, integrity, and future of the Basset Hound while promoting ethical practices within the community.

Leadership Team

BHCA is led by a team of six officers and five directors. Meet and contact these volunteers who work tirelessly on behalf of the Club and its membership.

Committees and Volunteers

The Basset Hound Club of America’s committees and volunteers are the backbone of the organization, supporting everything from education and events to health and breed preservation. This page highlights the dedicated individuals and groups working together to serve the club, its members, and the future of the breed.

Governance

All AKC member clubs and all strong organizations need documents to guide their smooth and fair operation.  Read the BHCA Constitution & Bylaws, Standing Rules and Operational Guidelines to see how we work.

Board Motions

The BHCA Board operates under Roberts Rules of Order, Newly Revised.  All significant decisions and actions are recorded in the Recording Secretary’s log of motions and in formal meeting minutes.  Curious about the actions of the BHCA Board?  Members can access them from the Motions page.

Tally-Ho Magazine

The official newsletter of BHCA, Tally-Ho is published six times a year to share club news, provide opportunities to learn about Basset Hound health and training, and give members an opportunity to share the wins and achievements of their dogs and kennels.

Member Judges

Many BHCA members have been approved to judge basset hounds in AKC competitions including conformation, field trial, obedience, rally, agility, and tracking.  BHCA Standing Rules require that the conformation judges at any BHCA National or Regional Specialty be member-judges.

Life Members

Those special individuals who have shown long term and significant dedication and participation in BHCA are honored with life members.

In Memoriam

We honor those who have gone before us.
