Whereas the Board wishes to make a copy of the Illustrated Standard available to each member in good standing (Member) free of charge,

Whereas the Judges Education Committee has completed its work on the new, revised Illustrated Standard (IS), and

Be it hereby resolved that the Board adopts the following plan to make the IS available to its Members in the most cost effective manner:

The Board will post a PDF copy of the IS on the BHCA web site so all members will have access to the IS and be able to print a copy,

A notification will be placed in the next issue of the Tally Ho advising Members that

a. The IS is available for viewing and printing as a pdf file on the BHCA web site,

b. Those Members who did not receive a hard copy of the IS at the 2014 Nationals may request one be sent to them via the US mail by contacting the corresponding secretary, and

Motion #23-15

Motion 10/29 mid-day by Visokay; seconded by Leo on 10/31/14. Discussion period 11/1 to 11/2. Voting November 3-5, 2014

Whereas the BHCA has agreed to provide the new edition of the Illustrated Standard (IS) at no cost to those Members in good standing (Members) who request one and did not receive one at the 2014 Nationals in WI,

Be it so resolved that The Board authorizes spending a maximum of $1,500 on postage to mail the IS estimate so sufficient funds are allocated should each and every member request a copy via mail.

Explanation

$1,500 is the maximum that will be spent - it is based on all remaining members requesting one at the following first class postage rates:

1. Domestic postage will be $2.66 per IS.

2. Canada will be $4.79 and

3. All international locations will be $10.72.

This cost is not specifically budgeted. So far we have spent approximately 4500 to complete the standard. Approximately 3,600 for the printing (still waiting on the bill) and approximately $900 for the pins presented to the artist. We had budgeted 7500 to complete the IS. We had discoursed making this available on DVD and having a PDF copy on the web site. I have no idea of the cost to do this. If I were to "guess" I would say there is room in the budget for both the mailing and the cost of the DVD but I do not know that and I have not seen a final bill form the printer.

I would recommend we approve this cost via a motion so we do not run into a situation where we have to allocate more funds to complete the production of the IS.

Motion #39-15

I move to accept the changes to 2015 Nationals schedule submitted by the coordinator on 1/23/15.

Below for Board information only and not part of motion:

The tracking chair, Stephanie Gonyeau, has requested holding all four events, TD/TDX/TDU/VST on the same date, Sunday Sept 27, 2015. We will hold TD/TDX at Mather Regional Park and the TDU/VST at Consumnes River College. They are approximately 8-10 miles apart whether back roads or freeway. Splitting the tests to run on the 26th and 27th will increase the logistics and costs. We would still incur both location fees, however it would not be necessary to have twice as many tracklayers, twice as many judges and twice as many drivers. The local DTC has offered to help with tracklaying, if necessary.

We are planning on NOT offering the supported agility at Hangtown KC on the week-end as those we have surveyed would rather compete only with bassets. Some of those agility folks would then also be available to help with tracklaying.

That being said, the agility chair, Karin King, would like to add a second agility trial on Monday, Sept 28th at the same location as our Tuesday, Sept 29th trial, both agility trials for bassets only. One of the judges at the all breed trials on the week-end would stay over to judge for us on Monday. She is very basset friendly and her fees are very fair for a small entry specialty and we would probably have to pay one night lodging.
